I love banana bread. I mean, I love it to the point where I could sit down and put away half a loaf without blinking.
Maybe more. 😉
However, it’s a pain to make, which might actually be a good thing considering how quickly I can make a loaf disappear! Plus you have to wait for it to bake. And while I have many wonderful qualities, I’m pretty sure patience isn’t one of them. (Hubby Veggie Quest would be happy to vouch for that.)
Enter cinnamon banana bread oatmeal.
Fast, delicious, and blissfully cheap
This tasty oatmeal is ready in just 5 minutes, and it makes the house smell divine—like a cinnamon roll and a hunk of banana bread had a baby.
What’s more, it’s almost criminally cheap at $0.39 a serving. To put that in perspective, you can enjoy five bowls of this gooey cinnamon-banana oatmeal for the price of a medium cup of coffee at Starbucks.
Not too shabby, eh?
Plus it’s made with cholesterol-lowering oats and vitamin B6-rich bananas—a bonus boost for your bod!
So if you want banana bread flavor without spending any dough (I crack me up!), try this quick-and-easy oatmeal recipe. Your taste buds—and wallet—will thank you.
Note: $0.39 price uses ingredients from Aldi.

Do you have tne nutrition facts for this? Thanks a ton 🙂 Loved your budget friendly video on Goodmorning Washington

Hi Helaina, glad you liked the video on Good Morning Washington! I can run the analysis, but I may not get it up until after the Thanksgiving holiday. Things are super busy around here, as I’m sure they are for you, too! I’ll also be posting the burger and slaw recipes in the next couple of weeks.
Thanks for stopping by, and have a great Thanksgiving!

You haven’t mentioned the amount of oats in the stove top method, presumably it’s 2 cups?
Lee says
Hi Ethice, yes, it’s 2 cups of oats in the stovetop method. Just fixed it. Great catch, thank you! 🙂 Happy holidays!

What about using steel cut oats?
Lee says
Hi Lesa, you can definitely make this recipe using steel-cut oats! However, they usually take about 20 minutes on the stovetop to cook. You’d also need to add the amount of liquid called for on the steel cut oats package, plus a little bit. Let me know how it goes if you try it!

Yay so glad you liked it!!
Katrina says
For the stovetop method do you bring just the water to a boil and then add the oats and banana mixture or so you mix it all together at once and bring the whole mix to a boil. The instructions were a little confusing. Thanks!
Lee says
Hi Katrina, great catch! (And sorry for the super-slow reply!) I haven’t made this in awhile, but as I recall we brought the water to a boil first, added the rest of the ingredients, then immediately turned the heat down to a simmer. I’ll update the recipe now, and make it again soon to double check!
