In keeping with Eat the Veggie Rainbow week, I’m eating something yellow: golden bell pepper strips with hummus.
However, since it’s rainy and dreary outside, I decided to turn my yellow bell pepper into a cute, sunshiny flower before devouring it. I’d hoped to make my flower look like this:

What I ended up with was this:
Luckily it still tasted good—and inspired a haiku. (Sometimes you just need to break out into poetry. Or in this case, “poetry.”) Here goes…
Pepper petals or
Twelve-legged yellow spider?
I do not know. Eat.
Which I thought was pretty good, until hubby came up with this:
Hummus pepper bloom,
black-eyed susan wannabe.
Homely, but tasty.
(I’ll leave it to you to decide whose was better.)
